Re: It Took Me 2 Years To Discover FUDA Hospital
Dear Dr. Xu Kecheng,President, Fuda Hospital,
Two years ago, my doctor found my rectal cancer and recommended that I had operation right away. With not much time to think, plan, or search for alternatives, I had my first operation done in March 2007, followed by 8 times chemotherapy and 28 times of radiation. I was happy because the doctor assured me that I should live well, the recurrence might take about 5-8 years, then he would deal with it again, no problem.During all those times after the operation I visited the doctor every 2-3 weeks, it showed no sign of recurrence, though the CEA tumor marker showed a bit above average.
In May 2008, I felt something was wrong, because it bled every time I had constipation. I reported to my doctor, he checked and cut few pieces of the tissue for biopsy, and the result showed nothing was wrong. In August 2008, I reported to my doctor that there had to be something wrong because I felt more pain, this time he took it more seriously.
He cut another 2-3 pieces of tissues for biopsy, the bigger pieces, the recurrence was found. Through Contrast CT Scan the doctor also found out that the rectal cancer cells had metastasized to liver. A new and supposed to be one of the best doctor in Thailand was consulted, again another operation also was recommended to be followed again by chemotherapy. This time I was reluctant. I started searching for alternative treatment to avoid the second operation, not only in Thailand but all over the world, USA, JAPAN,GERMANY and ITALY. But still I could not find any that really satisfied me. Johns Hopkins and Memorial Sloan Kettering were the 2 hospitals of my limited choice.
I had not much time to make final decision, so I decided to take the second operation and 2 times chemotherapy, just to buy time.
Then accidentally, a family friend from Hongkong met my sister. Knowing of my case, she immediately referred one of her Thai friend, Mr.Chaiya, whom she recommended to come to FUDA Hospital last year and had a successful treatment. My wife contacted Mr. Chaiya who kindly sent us a green booklet of FUDA Hospital and highly recommended that I come to FUDA the soonest I could. With Mr. Chaiya as a testimonial case and information from FUDA green booklet, we decided to e-mail to Dr.Xu and Dr. Mu. And to our surprise, we had e-mail answering back immediately from both doctors, which meant how care both doctors had. We, at this point, decided that this FUDA had to be our alternative answer. I had a strange good feeling for the first time that my cancer could be cured. Instead of waiting and e-mail back and forth, we decided to catch a plane to spend 4-5 days at FUDA, at least to have a thorough physical check up and also to find out more about FUDA.
We had good feeling, and were very impressed when meeting with Dr. Mu, Dr. Niu, Dr.Li and other doctors in the team. I admired the courage, frankness, and sincerity of Dr.Mu by kindly telling me that my case had 80% chance of success. The doctors in Thailand only gave me 35%. At that moment, deeply in my mind and in my hart 35% or 80% did not matter any more. I had decided already to leave the last chance of my life in FUDA’s care. Now what I really want are, the best doctors’ care, the best medicines, and the best therapies that FU DA can provide.
In my case, I consider FUDA Hospital is a ‘GIFT OF GOD’ brought to my attention by God’s messenger. For the rest of my life, FUDA will see me at least once a year for health maintenance course. I also hope that, from now on, with FUDA’s name known in Thailand, Thai cancer patients don’t have to wait 2 years to save their lives from cancers.
Our impression after one month stay at FUDA is that FUDA is the world-class hospital with the best doctors who care about their patients with full attention and sincerity.
Besides many thanks to you Dr. Xu, please relay our thanks to Dr. Niu, Dr. Mu, Dr. Li,Dr. Gong, Dr. Shi, Dr. Xiong, Dr. Zhou, Dr. Huang and all other doctors concerned, also nurse, translators, dietitian, and all staff who have serviced us attentively in order to make our life the most comfortable at FUDA.
Yours sincerely,

Virabhongse Bodhipakti, a Thai patient, and wife Pimjai @ Room 810
